Consciente de que la suficiencia en otros idiomas es requerido para poder realizar estudios en el exterior, me he propuesto prepararme en aquello. Cabe indicar que mi fluidez en el idioma inglés es lo mas básico (en la U solamente hice 6 niveles de inglés), les lanzo las siguientes preguntas:

¿Es necesario que para ganar mayor fluidez en el idioma me inscriba en un curso en alguna academia tipo Benedict o Bertliz durante todo un año?
En mi escenario actual ¿es probable que obtenga una nota aceptable en uno de estos exámenes?
¿Qué tan recomendable es que únicamente me prepare sólamente para rendir este tipo de exámenes?

Hola @mbgranizo, creo que primero debes averiguar la nota que solicitan en la universidad o universidades a las que quieres aplicar, Hay universidades que te aceptan con “baja” notas y otras con mas de 90 y ademas con limites inferiores altos en todas las bandas(reading, speaking, etc). Por lo que considero que primero deberias tomar en cuenta cual es a nota que tienes que sacar para acceder a la universidad que prefieras.
Segundo seria bueno saber cuanto puedes sacar en el toefl, la primera opcion y mas costosa es dar el toefl para saber. Segundo es que tengas un amigo que ya dio el examen para que puedas comparar tu ingles con el de el para que tengas al menos una idea.
Yo la primera vez que di el examen saque 74. Por esto me dedique dos meses en aprender tecnicas de como dar el examen, hacer ejercicios de escritura y de speaking. Tambien estuve un curso de el centro ecuatoriano norteamericano(CEN), y esto me ayudo a sacar 95. Pero eso fue en el total, mejore mis notas considerablemente en listening y reading, pero en writing subi 1 solo punto. Por lo que considero que si en una de las bandas tienes bastante dificultad no creo que en un par de meses subas mucho en todas las bandas, especialmente writing y speaking que suelen ser las mas complicadas.
Para mejorar, en mi opinion, tienes que meterte en un curso que te exponga a hablar o practicar bastante. Realmente no he estado en mas de un curso por lo que no podria decir cual es mejor. Lo que me parecio interesante en el CEN es que es todo los dias 2 horas y es economico. No se ni creo que sea el mejor pero puede ser el mas conveniente. El resto lo de siempre practicar, ver peliculas en ingles sin subtitulos o con subtitulos en ingles, leer escuchar ver tv en ingles.

My Toefl Ibt Preparation Course is a 28 hour course and it can be taken on weekdays or on weekends. There is a maximum of 6 students in each group.

About the dynamics of the course:
We begin the course with the actual exam and I evaluate you just like the ETS on all the areas, the reading, listening, speaking, and writing to see where your strengths and weaknesses are over a grade of 120.

From there, we continue with practical exercises with me as well as give you the strategies you need in order to prepare you on how to confront all these areas of the exam with confidence and beating the time in which you have to do them on.

All this will be in preparation for your second exam where you will see a definite improvement.

After the second exam, we continue with more exercises where you feel you need to improve and finish the course with a third exam.

Your materials:
You get the last edition of the ETS Toefl IBt preparation book which comes with a CD Rom and contains 3 additional practice exams, but this is something you can practice with after you take my course. You do use the book for listening and reading practice exercises throughout the course.

Your will also receive additional software for you to put my strategies into practice.
It is a personalized course with a maximum of 6 students and this helps tremendously for the best assimilation of the skills you need.

The cost of the course is $450.00 This includes the materials beforementioned as well as assessment in all documents that you are required to complete for your University acceptance as well as corrections of all essays that you need to write.
